Check your label before it goes to print

A pre-print label check led by a former NHS dietitian. We confirm every mandatory element is present and correctly formatted, before you commit to the run.

Human & pet supplement brands · UK · EU · US

One clear answer before you print.

We check your print-ready artwork against the mandatory rules for your market, and confirm every required element is there and correctly formatted, before it goes to press.

Fee confirmed before we start. Back with you in two to three working days.

What this saves you

The problem is rarely dramatic. The cost is.

A label goes to print with a piece missing. A mandatory warning left off, the ingredients in the wrong order, an allergen that isn’t emphasised the way the rules require.

None of it looks like much on its own. But once the run’s printed, a small formatting miss becomes a reprint, a delayed launch, or stock you can’t legally sell.

Labels often get finalised in a hurry, artwork moves between the manufacturer, the designer and the brand, and the mandatory details are easy to lose track of when everyone assumes someone else has checked them.

This is the check that catches it first.

what we check

Every mandatory element, present and correctly formatted.

We go through your artwork against the mandatory requirements for your market, and confirm each one is present and correctly formatted:

  • The statutory statements a food supplement label has to carry
  • The ingredients are listed in descending order of weight
  • Allergens are declared and emphasised the way the rules require
  • Net quantity, directions for use and storage conditions are all there
  • Fields for the best-before date and lot or batch number are in place
  • The responsible food business operator name and address is present and valid for your market
  • The supplement information panel is built correctly, with per-dose amounts and a nutrient reference value column
  • The label meets the minimum legibility and font-size requirement
  • Any warning triggered by a specific ingredient, like a high-caffeine statement, is there

If we spot something outside this scope while we’re in the artwork, we’ll flag it so you can look into it.

It’s a lot to hold in your head when you’ve been staring at the same artwork for weeks. We check it fresh, against the current rules for your market.

Fees

A fixed fee, agreed before we start.

Every check is quoted once we’ve seen what’s going to print. The fee depends on how many surfaces, SKUs and markets are involved, and you’ll have it in writing before any work begins.

Outer packaging

Your bottle, pouch or carton.

Outer & sachet

The outer packaging plus the individual sachet, for multipacks.

SKUs & markets

Several SKUs, or the same product across more than one market.

Booking

Send us your label.

Email your print-ready artwork and product spec sheet to info@vjmcompliance.com, and tell us which market it’s for. We’ll confirm the fee the same or next working day.

Your check-back is with you within two to three working days of payment. Anything that comes in after 2pm UK time, or over a weekend, starts the next working day.

Questions

A few we get asked.

Not in this check. This confirms the mandatory label elements are present and correctly formatted. Whether your claims are compliant and substantiated is a separate piece of work, and we’re happy to scope it if you need it.

To confirm the ingredients are listed in descending order of weight, we need to see the formulation breakdown. Without it, we can’t complete that part of the check.

We’ll flag it clearly and tell you what a fuller review would involve. You decide whether to take it further. Nothing goes beyond the agreed check unless you ask us to.

The mandatory requirements differ between the UK, EU and US, so a label that’s right for one isn’t automatically right for another. If you’re selling the same product in more than one market, tell us and we’ll quote for it.

It’s a fixed fee, set by the number of surfaces, SKUs and markets on the artwork. Send it over and we’ll confirm the fee before we start.
